Post to a building is usually thought of as one item, and it is not. A serial letter to an apartment building with thirty households is thirty items, thirty sheets and thirty envelopes. Economy post costs about one franc per household, so roughly thirty francs in postage, and postage is the smaller part of it.
On top come printing, folding, enveloping and franking. It is little work per item, but it falls on every one of them, and it falls again with every notice.

What the figure does not say
It compares running cost with running cost, postage against licence. The purchase price of the screen and the one-off activation are not in it.
With purchase plus licence the screen roughly pays for itself with one serial letter a month. With the all-round package it takes more, and there the saved working time carries it rather than the postage. That belongs in the open, otherwise the sum only holds for one of the two routes.
The more expensive part is in no calculation
Economy post takes two days. For the lift that is down today, the water going off at 2pm and the contractor moving to tomorrow, the postal route simply is not there. The information that matters arrives late or not at all.
What follows shows up later as a phone call, as a contractor’s second call-out, or as a complaint about the service charge statement because a meter reading had to be estimated. None of that can be costed honestly, which is why it is not in the calculator. It is there all the same.
