The laundry schedule that does not get written over

A schedule that is always and everywhere reachable takes the ground out of the dispute. The one behind glass does the opposite.

1 September 2026

Hardly any notice is looked at as often as the laundry schedule, and hardly any is wrong as often. It has hung for years, someone has pencilled in a swap, a note about the holidays is stuck over it, and half the calls to the property manager are about who may use it when.

Why this schedule in particular goes out of date

Because it is the one notice residents want to change themselves. A swap between neighbours, a week away, a machine under repair: all of that happens between two visits by the manager, and it happens in ballpoint pen.

After that there are two versions, the one on the paper and the one in people’s heads, and neither is binding. That is the ground the dispute grows on, not the washing machine.

What changes when the schedule is not behind glass

It is current, because a change costs half a minute instead of a trip. Whoever swaps tells the manager, and the schedule in the stairwell is right the same day. There is one version again, and it hangs where everyone passes.

It is also the point where residents start using the screen by themselves. Whoever has tapped the schedule once will see the notice next to it the next time.

What works today and what is planned

Today the screen shows the schedule and the manager maintains it through the portal. That settles the question of which version applies.

Booking directly on the screen is a planned service and not available yet. It requires a connection to the laundry room, and until that exists a booking on the screen would only be a second list next to reality.
